At The Star Centre and Compass we are keen to ensure that information about our services reaches the people who would benefit from them. One of the ways we do this is by raising awareness among other supportive organisations in the borough of Hounslow, such as Community Mental Health Teams, carers’ groups and drug & alcohol services, by giving face-to-face presentations. As volunteers who have ourselves been affected by mental health difficulties, we feel it is important to meet with other organisations in person for a number of reasons, not only to publicise our services. We want to be able to dispel some of the stigma that is associated with mental ill-health and to clarify some common misconceptions surrounding this subject. We hope that, as a result, professionals will be better informed and their clients will feel further supported and hopeful about the future. We will explain what it is we do and will be happy to answer any questions that you or your clients may wish to ask.
